Viability of the unborn...It's something I (and many other pro-life persons) have cited as inconsistencies in the law. Most states have laws that go something to the effect of: if you kill a woman (accidental or intentional) carrying an unborn baby you are cited with the death of both lives, regardless of the gestation stage. But, abortion is considered perfectly acceptable (in many cases) up until the "interim point at which the fetus becomes ... potentially able to live outside the mother's womb, albeit with artificial aid" (Roe v. Wade)
I saw in the news today that an Alabama Supreme Court judge has recognized the incosistencies in the law and suggested an abondonment of the viability clause. An interesting read:
