So life at Kandahar has given me a new understanding for the term "trailer park"… mainly due to the fact that my room is for all practical purposes a semi-truck trailer (surrounded by 'pods' of trailers). Specifically it's the type that can be removed from the truck and used as a container for shipping goods. Granted, this metal box has been spiffed up with the amenities to be lived in… We have electricity, air conditioning, an overhead fluorescent light, bunk beds, wardrobes and smooth enough walls to hang Command Hooks (thank you 3M!). There's even several network jacks if I wanted to pay the $100 per month for internet service in my room… (I think I'll stick with the free "MoraleNet")
But as simple as life in a metal box is, it sure beats 6 months of life in a tent… water doesn't leak in, there's only 2 people to a room, and the bed is much more comfortable than a cot.
Speaking of beds, it's 10:30 and time to sleep.
Please pray that I would be more diligent in my reading and study of scripture.
Cable TV??? Beleve it or not, my office building is exactly the same. Just a little more decorative exterior. Just a bunch of modular containers set on pillars. Probably the worst possible scenario for tornado alley!
ReplyDeleteHave you talked to a couple of Chaplains about your challenges with references? They might have something, or a suggestion anyway. Anything of local historical biblical significance that fits your interest?
