On the way back from work last night I noticed two things that caught me off guard a little bit. The first was a New York license plate on an SUV in front of me… Who brought their old plates with them from the US? Kind of a fun way to remember home! But for me it meant thinking of my Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Rich, and Aunt Dianne and Uncle George (and families) who live there. Such a small thing can so quickly take you mind across thousands of miles to wonder how that person’s doing and what’s going on in their lives.
The other thing I saw was really not such a small thing. It was the night sky. Most nights the dust (and ?????) along with the light of the airfield blocks out any decent view of the stars. But tonight, there were plenty twinkling about. It was fun to find Orion and the North Star. To remember back across years to standing in the street outside the house growing up, pointing up to those same stars. God is so good to give those little (and big) reminders of home, of family and friends.
